Colin joined Opus in 2018, having previously been at Canaccord Genuity/ Hawkpoint and UBS Investment Bank, based in London and New York.
Colin has broad and international experience in M&A, disposals, and capital raisings, including a number of IPOs and follow-on offerings specialising in complex cross-border projects, integrating M&A and funding strategies.
Colin embarked on his career in investment banking with SG Warburg in 1993, following qualifying as ACA with Price Waterhouse in London. He worked in New York from 2002-2007, with UBS Investment Bank, where he was responsible for some key client relationships and involved in numerous high-profile transactions.
At predecessor firms, Colin has variously been Head of Industrials, Co-Head of European M&A, Head of Capital Goods and Head of European Software.
Over the years, Colin has acted for many clients, in recent years notably INEOS, Cape, Hamworthy, GE, 3M, Siemens, Colfax. In recent years, Colin has also played a key role in a number of LSE IPOs, namely Polypipe, Volution and Eurocell.
He has a LLB (Hons) degree from Edinburgh University and is a member of the ICAEW.
Clifford is a Senior Adviser to Opus, where he helps lead the consumer practice. He has over 30 years’ experience of advising on a wide range of transactions, mainly in the UK. His focus for over 25 years has been on the consumer sector, in particular food and drink, including on a number of pub company deals.
Prior to his current role, Clifford worked as a corporate finance adviser at Investec, Hambros and Robert Fleming. In addition, he spent three years as Business Development Manager at Grand Metropolitan, a major consumer conglomerate.
Clifford has advised mainly on corporate disposals, acquisitions, fund raisings and general strategic matters. Food and drink clients have included Bahlsen, Cadbury, Bakkavor, Britvic, Cranswick, Grampian Country Food Group, Greencore, Greggs, Produce Investments, Refresco, Uniq and Whitworths.
Clifford is currently non-executive Chairman of The Sausage Man (UK) Limited, a supplier of foods to the food service sector, and a non-executive Director of China Food Company plc, a manufacturer of animal feed and soya-based sauces.
Clifford is a qualified barrister and read Philosophy at Bristol University.
Malcolm has over 30 years experience advising public and private companies and private equity firms on complex UK and cross-border transactions across a variety of sectors including TMT, Business Services, Consumer and Industrials.
He has extensive public company advisory experience advising both the bidder (UK and overseas) and target on complicated public offers, recommended and hostile, and advising on public to private transactions working closely with management teams and private equity companies.
Malcolm qualified at PwC before spending nine years at Hill Samuel Corporate Finance latterly as a Director focused on a wide range of transactions. He became a senior Director at Credit Suisse focused on cross-border and UK M&A and public company transactions. He joined a venture development company as CFO, which was seeking a substantial London IPO, which gave him a detailed insight into the role and associated issues of being a CFO.
He then joined KPMG as a senior corporate finance partner focused on public company transactions, UK M&A and private equity transactions.
Malcolm joined Matrix Investment Banking as head of corporate finance before joining Opus in 2011.
Amir is a M&A professional and investment banker with 20 years of experience in leading regional sector franchises with a focus on healthcare and personal care sectors. During his career, Amir has advised leading corporates, entrepreneurs, and private equity clients on over 50 M&A, debt financing and capital markets transactions in these sectors.
Amir started his healthcare investment banking career in London in 2003 with ABN AMRO and then RBS, where he led the healthcare services and medical devices practice in EMEA. He joined Wells Fargo Securities in 2013 as a Managing Director to lead the firm’s M&A and investment banking businesses in EMEA and India for Healthcare, Consumer and Retail sectors. Prior to moving to London, Amir worked with Citigroup and ABN AMRO across Asia.
